the only reason I see Nintendo needing 3rd party games is to keep it selling for 5 years as they can't keep pumping enough games for it. once a generation is about to end Nintendo needs put their devs on new games for the new hardware and at that time it is good to have 3rd party games filling in the gaps.
I'm not angry at Nintendo for thinking about their survival before thinking about what gamers want (or what haters claim they want from Nintendo who would not buy it anyway). If they did go with a super powerful console to please devs and gamers they wouldn't last very long.
the good thing about having 3rd party support is that you don't need to buy a Sony or an MS console to play them in my case
