It's fine if he's measuring popularity only on home consoles. If he was measuring overall popularity then there would be a problem. But he's not.


Several things:  His title implies it's overall, and it really doesn't make much sense to split the market for Mario in the first place.
Another thing is that the Mario games are only on one console, while the CoD franchise hits 3 platforms (PS3, 360, and Wii).

Why does it matter?  It mattes because including three platforms to one means you've got a thinned out sales figure for one compared to others.

Another thing is that when only using numbers to predict, it no longer is an opinion.
