Why a site did it?  You mean why people do it, or why would anyone in their right mind with concern for truth and decent tastes say so?  As for the former, it is to get hits.  As for the later, it is because the drive to get hits overrides truth and having good tastes.  What stands out is the freakshow on the Internet, not journalistic integrity.
