No, it's not even debatable. You included all platforms for CoD, meanwhile Mario was on 2platforms and you did'nt even bother to include all 2. With 50% of Mario's platforms, it only sold 30mil less. You only need to include 1DS Mario game (NSMB) and sales favor Mario, that is w/o even mentioning 

You need to consider the fact that Mario is competitioning with Mario. By that I mean 30million ppl bought NSMB on DS. It was a rly fun game, but still a simplistic 2D game. For many, owning 1 of these games is enough so they did'nt bother buying a 2nd similar game for Wii. The DS games affect the sales of Wii games because of saturation, the same way games from previous instalement in a franchise affect future games. This is one of the reasons why it's silly to ignore the DS games

To make your argument debatable, you had to arbitrarily dismiss 50% of Mario's consoles and it was still barely enough. Mario sold 90million copies on the DS.

And I'm not even sure what you think makes CoD bigger than Mario. It's not bigger in terms of sales as I pointed out. It's also CLEARLY not bigger in term of pop culture. It's clearly not bigger in terms of critical reception. The only thing it's bigger at is in term of overhype and marketing because it's the ''cool' fad that gets teenagers to spent their money in a heartbeat at launch. Just because we always hear of One Direction in the media right now does'nt make them bigger than AC/DC.

They are more CoD ''fanatics'' that needs to camp out for hours to make sure they be the first to get their petty war game at midnight, and that is the reason it may look bigger.

Ive said multiple times. Home consoles.  Not sure what the big deal about that is.  It is like saying Home Console pokemon is bigger than halo.  it's not, simple as that.  Handheld mario is bigger than handheld call of Duty.  Two different audiences and two different price ranges.

You shoulde revise your title then. Plus it is a silly and abitrarily thing to say. It's as silly as titling a thread as ''What is bigger, Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter'' but then later in a post you add ''oh, we are arbitrarily only comparing the movies, so exclude the books and everything else'' making the comparaison futile.

And as I said, the sales of Mario games on DS affect in some ways the sales of games on Wii making it unfair to ignore those cause not only are they a big number but they have a impact on what you are comparing. I could repeat the NSMB example I made, but instead I'll give you a other example. I'm a huge Mario Kart fan, but only have money for 1game. I have to choose between DS and Wii but I'm on the road alot or my family usualy monopolize the TV, so I choose Mario Kart DS. If they were no Mario Kart on DS tho, I would have bought it for my Wii, meaning that the existence of Mario Kart DS (that we are ignoring in our comparison with CoD despite the sale being there) did make the Wii version lose a sale. CoD does'nt have this problem.

And if we choose to only include home consoles (wich I think is a obsolete comparison if we do it that way), one could argue by doing the math that 118million games sold across 99million consoles is a way better number than 144millions games sold across 248million consoles, therefore giving a strong argument that if Mario was on 3consoles it would have outsold CoD.
