I think people may actually be understating CoD's presence in pop culture or its presence in the public's mind. CoD is huge, and it gets a huge media attention every time a new one is about to come out. Nowadays you almost never hear a young gamer talking about Mario on the street, they talk about "Black Ops" or "Modern Warfare".

Edit: Top three CoD games: MW3 (~30m), Black Ops (28.5m), Modern Warfare 2 (~25m) = 83,5

Top three Mario games: MKWii (33.5m), NSMBWii (26.8m), Galaxy (10.8m) = 71.1m

It gets worse when you look at more games further down on the list.

Don't know why the lowest selling one would matter.

The lowest selling game would matter because it shows some type of consistency, I would say.
