Blu Ray wouldve had died had Sony not taken the nose dive for it. Again, look it up. Who cares whether one thinks its a dying market? Sony is responsible for the last generation survival of possibly the last disc based media.
I thank them for that, because I love all the extras on Blu Rays. Practically my whole DVD collection is Blu Ray now and thanks to my PS3 I never had to pay nearly six hundred to a grand to buy even the cheapest Blu Ray back before the PS3 came out. I didnt touch Blu Ray until I could afford a PS3 myself and that was in 2009. Ever since then I have not turned back. I have a five movie combo on one Blu Ray that I bought at Best Buy. Thank goodness for them that I can do so much on one disc. I mean its not life changing, but its great not to have to swap discs with my gaming and now even with my movies.
Sony has never made a format war for 4k televisions because you cant put that into the box and expect people to buy that. Sony is going to have to wait until the market price for those TV's goes down (As DVD or Blu Ray would've had to do without their intervention). Sony has made TV's specifically for gaming but they've left that up to you to buy. They've been using the formats since the original Playstation, most notably the one the one Kutaragi was paid by Nintendo to make but have been making those formats mass market through gaming consoles since 2001 with the PS2.
