Looks like the stock shortages of Luigi at Tsutaya affected its sales there, although Luigi and One Piece are so close in sales it could be a statistical error (people don't seem to realize Famitsu and Media Create are estimations just like VGC).
Luigi's Mansion 2 did very well, the original on GC opened at 116k and sold 349k total in Japan. In a single week the second game has nearly outsold the first. The difference in install base is immense though, 3DS has over 10 million hardware units sold, and GC only had 4 million by the end of its lifetime, and much lower at the time of Luigi's Mansion 1.
One Piece 2 dropped since the first game, which opened at 627k. Even with PS3+Vita that's a drop of almost half. The first game was infamously bad among consumers though, so that likely hurt demand of a sequel, even though it is far better. Word of mouth and good reviews might give it some hope for somewhat steady sales.
Meruru Plus opens at 25k, which is a drop from Totori Plus opening at 30k, further reinforcing the notion that Totori>>>Meruru. Nobody likes the pink haired princess!
