So i'd like to add my 2 cents to this discussion. First I feel it almost mandatory to say that i'm a Nintendo fan too. Don't let the Playstation Nation Sig fool you, I also like Nintendo and I actually have a 3DS and I DON'T have a Vita.
I love the 3DS. Pokemon Black 2 gets played a lot as i'm pretty into competitive battling, Kid Icarus Uprising is my favorite game for the system. I bought Crimson Shroud on the eshop (pretty fun actually). Mario Kart 7 has quite a few hours into it (trying to beat my damn time on Neo Bowser city lol) I still need to pick up Fire Emblem since the first two weeks none of the retailers nearby had em in stock. Etrian Odyssey IV AND Monster Hunter 3 are two other games that I'd like to get as well.
That being said I agree with Fish on this particular issue. I played the Monster Hunter 3G demo and thought it was pretty awkward. This is coming from someone who played Monster Hunter on PSP and Kid Icarus without the stylus as well as Re: Revelations without the CPP. I'm not finicky when it comes to controls at all, but Monster Hunter 3G DID feel a little weird imo. Will I still get it? Yes most likely, but I don't see how anyone can say that it WOULDN'T play better on a Vita.
Two analog sticks would be wonderful for Monster Hunter, it simply would be. Monster Hunter has a lot of different actions each with their own corresponding animations. You want to chug some potions to restore health? Go ahead, but you better be damn sure you aren't in danger of getting hit because the drinking animation lasts for a few seconds and that boss could bitch smack you while you are recovering and kill you. Your weapon is getting dull, want to sharpen it? Go ahead, but be sure nothing hits you while you are sharpening it. Even the dodge roll has a recovery time. All this is by design to make the player think about their actions. Having to fumble around with the camera is just annoying though. It would feel like such a smoother experience at least as far as the controls go if it was on Vita.
If the devs actually tried to make Monster Hunter 3G on Vita and made use of the superior hardware, it would definitely look better as well.
As far as the 3DS goes, the two screens is by design and I don't actually mind it. Sometimes it can cut down on the clutter or make the HUD less obtrusive. The 3D in my opinion IS gimicky though and I rarely play with it on. It's annoying to manage as you have to sit just right for it to work and it really doesn't add all that much to the gameplay experience. It's a great system and I play it everyday, and there are still more games that I want to get for it.
Not saying i'm a fan of this guy either, hell i've never even played Fez. Still though, his opinions are valid.
