In addition to that, the 3DS had monster hunter coming and it was really the only mobile option for third parties, whereas the Wii U already has competition in PS360 that third parties know will sell plenty of copies... |
Actually, once they cut the price, they started selling the 3DS at a loss, this was part of the reason they had losses for the first time. My point is still the same, the sales of the 3DS were slow, maybe not as slow as the Wii U, but the 3DS was a cheaper system even at launch. People seem to use the arguement that since NSMBU didn't sell the system, nothing will, I have to disagree with that as well. Software LIBRARIES sell systems, not single games. The 3DS had a pretty bad drought too, and honestly sales didn't even start picking up much after the intial price drop. What saved the system that year was SM3DL and Mario kart 7. Two great titles with good word of mouth and decent advertising. Sales for the wii U WILL pick up, but it's not going to happen right away. Hell, it's prolly not going to happen till the end of the year when we finally get some big hitters from Nintendo.
I'm the result of someone exclusively playing Final Fantasy XI from the PS2 release till 2010, and only stopping for small bouts of catch up.
