Dude how many times do I have to repeat myself? Stop acting as if sales & profit is the only metric in which to measure a consoles success. The N64 and GC had an increbily small market share. Look at the xbox. It sold very little BUT it was brand new and successfully established MS as a viable console company as well as creating several successful new franchises. Were they dreamcasts? No. Were they successful? No. What they were was nothing special and more to the point if Nintendo kept on pumping out the same level of sales they would have to ask themselves where is the company going? No growth = no investors. No investors = stocks dive and I'm sure you can work out the rest.

That raft of franchises didn't help the GC surpass 30 mill sales and already 2d mario is released.

Exactly there isn't a paper so stop acting as if your word is fact; it's not, it's just a premise. If it's so clear then why is there clearly only a spike in sales around Q1/Q2 08 and why is Q1-4 09 not higher? If your claims are true you need to find numbers to assign to it.

That's a fallacy - burden of proof. The burden of proof is on you to prove your claim, not me to disprove it.

Common sense does not apply to sales when you have the figures in front of you. That's just an excuse to avoid analysing the actual sales.

Market share isn't the only metric for a console's success either. The purpose of a product is to turn a profit, after all.

GC released when the market was smaller than it is now, and was less casual-friendly than Wii U can be. (It ecven made the traditionally very accessible Mario Kart overly complicated with Double Dash's 2 player mechanic)

I have assigned numbers to it; not just the Q1/Q2 '08 spike but a large portion of the sales in Q3/Q4 '08, and to a lesser degree in '07 and '09. Wii sales were high throughout this period, and Brawl's sway with the core was one of the key reasons, it brought in those who wouldn't buy a Wii for Wii Sports or Wii Fit. No offense, but you clearly don't understand the role SSB plays within the Nintendo userbase, and that's why you're making the mistake of trying to isolate its impact to a short-range spike.

We're just going in circles now, so I'll leave you with that. Sayonara.

As I said if your company doesn't expand, expect investors to ditch it which will result in a worthless comapny. Nice seeing how you completely ignored that point.

Are you also forgetting the considerably more popular Mario Karts that was released? You are just wanting to see SSBB as some console seller without wanting to provide any numbers whilst ignoring other factors. No offence, but you are just guessing and think that hollow claims somehow constitute a legitmate argument...

Yes we are going in circles now so there is no point in replying. I have used facts and figures, you are just making unfounded claims. All I can say is, magnets:
