Not even the police here can carry guns. Who's holding all those guns? They're not hunting rifles, correct? (Because they count "small firearms"). Or maybe they do count those? Even then, I don't see how this number can be true.
I don't think I've ever even seen a gun in Iceland, or heard of someone using it, for anything else than hunting things like some bird species etc.

Many guns in the US are for hunting use also. Just because there are 30 guns per 100 people does not mean 30 out of a hundred people own guns. It could very well be a smaller % of people own a higher % of guns. I live in the US and I have only seen guns owned by a few people, but I knw many more own them, they just have no need to show them off

Eh, actually it seems to be fairly close. Recent polls seem to suggest that 1 in 4 to 1 in 5 Icelanders own guns.
Which is kind of funny, since US Gun Ownership is like... 1 in 3.
Maybe Pezus just never noticed and nobody mentioned it.

Hmmm 827 people asked in that survey and:
"According to a new survey conducted by Market and Media Research, about one in five Icelanders said they have access to at least one gun. Most of these were men over the age of 50 earning 800,000 ISK per month or more, who typically supported the Progressive Party. "
I guess that's why I haven't noticed.

and yet for some odd reason gun ownership is increasing in your country. Compaired to the US where it's dropped like +10%
Would of been interesting had they have done a followup to see the demographics of the growing group. Seems like there is a second group of younger gun owners somewhere buying guns for a different reason then the old dudes.
