Haha, there is no way it'll sell LESS than the GameCube. 40 million is more reasonable but I think 50 million is more realistic.
There's no question though, this console is not going near Wii levels of success. Part of the problem is the lack of games, part is the price, and part is the weird controller. Luckily the first two can be rectified.
The biggest mistake Nintendo made though, like Maelstrom says, is that Nintendo is trying to appeal to the hardcore with Wii U. That is always going to be a losing battle if your Nintendo.
