I simply think people are tired of the franchise. Look at PSP. The first GoW game sold almost or over 4 million IIRC. The 2nd game on the system in the franchise sold less than half that. And that game came out after GoW3. So maybe after the story concluded people just decided they'd had enough. |
take a look at MGS2 to 3 sales to see what I'm talking about with prequels. MGS3 is my second favorite game ever, but its sales suffered and that was before PS3 was even announced. There had been a game released on the console in the series, and that new game didn't continue the story. MGS4 picked up the sales once again. GoWA will still have some healthy sales. GoW4 or whatever a spin off will be will most likely sell more however. Just like Shadowfall will most likely pick up after the drop off from 3.
