I'd like to live in your world, and I really don't understand why more people don't want the same. For all the moaning everyone does about lobbyists and special interest groups and bought and paid for politicians, they'd rather continue trying to piss in each other's Cheerios ("No abortions for you!" "Oh yeah?! You're paying for my abortion!") than to fix the problem by shifting power away from DC to the local level. I think at this point a lot of people are addicted to the culture wars, and they get off on needling the other side more than they would by just living their own lives and letting others live theirs.
