Single player experience, no matter how good the 10-15 hours of gameplay, and list price of $60 a pop, is eventually going to be traded in. A game has to be able to be treated like a boardgame with replay value, that gives people a reason to own. If you decide to make story driven games without much replayability, you will have it end up used. Games need to be games, not interactive fiction.
You can do multiplayer, or make something like Minecraft or Civilization (or Simcity done right) or a puzzle game people can jump in and replay. But do something like L.A Noire, and you have a game eventually let go.
