Again, this works for things that are in high demand. No question. But super, insanely high demand? No. We could literally have a pre-order list so long that we'd be sold out for years by now. I have no hesitation in saying that our pre-order list would be over 4000 people long by now. That would take years to complete. Years.

 


Why doesn't Nintendo let you do that, and just give them an order for 4000 units?  Then they could guage demand and increase production accordingl...  Not as nice on manufacturing though, as it will cause a much sharper fall when supply reaches demand...

Of course if it's going to take more then a couiple of weeks, consumes will likely put themselfs on multiple preorder lists if there is no penalty for withdraw.  That could always be solved with a deposit to preorder though...
