OdinHades said: PS Vita will double Wii U sales. Yes, I just said that. |
The Wii U will likely sell around 7 million units this year. You believe the PSV will sell 14 million, in other words have a YoY sales increase of 400% and sell the same as the 3DS did last year?
I don't see it.

Maybe it's just me, but going 30k a week isn't really a pace to reach 7 million, unless this is going to be a veeeery long year. Like 240 weeks long ;) So far there is not a single game announced (by announced I mean with a release date or just so that it's 100% certain to come in 2013) that can cause a sudden improvement in the sales. On the other hand Vita does have a few heavy hitters coming and keeps getting more and more announcements of Japanese games, which can keep on turning things around in its favour in Japan.

I can assure you that Pikmin 3 will likely be bigger and sell more than any Vita "heavy hitter" to say no Vita game has hit a million yet.
If you don't count that, then Wind Waker HD is really going to do good for the system and will eclipse the big guns for Vita easily. And if either 3D Mario or Mario Kart launch, as well as whatever we don't yet know about...well I don't see how these aren't heavy hitters yet Tearaway, a game which will likely sell 500k tops, is.

Pikmin 3 and WW HD are not system sellers, they will be mainly bought by big Nintendo fans, so by people who already have the console. I think that KZ:M, Soul Sacrifice and Tearaway may actually move more consoles, even if they sell less copies.

Pikmin 3 may not be, but WW HD 100% is.
As I said earlier in the thread, sales increased dramatically for the 3DS when OoT 3D launched, and yet there's so much more going for the HD re-release of Wind Waker than for OoT. It may be mainly Nintendo fans who get it, but a lot of them don't have Wii U's yet. In addition, Zelda is always a safe bet for casuals and will likely have a bigger appeal to neutral Christmas shoppers.
But maybe we're reading into it a bit much at that point.
