So far the biggest competition for both HD platforms has been DVD and it will still be in the near future. Of course the Netherlands is only a small market, but recently figures for 2007 were published. 32 million DVDs were sold in 2007 compared to 75 thousand for both HD formats combined. That is like 0.25% of the complete market! Maybe in other countries those numbers are a bit better, but still the real money is made in DVD sales, not Blu-Ray or HD-DVD.
