But will the world accept it? And more importantly, can it get close to Fire Emblem on Metacritic?

The world must accept it if it were to sell more than sliced bread! Piles of Luigi cartridges everywhere!

But seriously, scores are looking good, but Fire Emblem will still win the metacritic battle. FE is at 93, I think Luigi will end up in the upper 80's. Day one for me anyway, pre-ordered months ago.
