Man, why'd you have to drag Aonuma into this? He has nothing to do with this discussion. I can agree about Sakamoto, but I'm sick of all the hate Aonuma gets. The Zelda series hasn't seen a catastrophe anywhere near the degree of Other M, and he knows what the fans want.
At least, this is supposedly what the fans want. I consider myself a Zelda fan, and I couldn't care less whether or not there is a predetermined order for the dungeons. Link's Awakening, yo. All I want is a pleasant aesthetic, memorable characters, and the brilliant action/adventure gameplay the series is known for. Nonlinearity is a non issue. Aonuma's not even directing anymore, just producing. Fujibayashi is the new director. |
I don't think Aonuma is that bad, and he made my favorite Zelda game (Wind Waker) and one of my top 3 (Majora's Mask).
Also, I'm super excited based on the no specific dungeon order convention he mentioned as well. That's going to be awesome.
The thing I'm worried with him, is that TP,SS,ST,and PH were all pretty bad Zelda games IMO. And they were all bad for a lot of the same reasons. Aonuma does do some great stuff, but these past 4 games have started to falter.
