But fusion wasn't that great a game, it was very linear, and I consider it to be in the lower tier of the franchise. He did do some good stuff, I will give him that. But his vision for Metroid is not something I like, he wants more linear gameplay, and more story. In other M he fully realized his vision. It was an abomination, he simply doesn't want to make the kind of Metroid that fans want. I aknowledge his great work in the past, but he is not right for the job anymore. (I think the same of Eiji Aonuma) |
Man, why'd you have to drag Aonuma into this? He has nothing to do with this discussion. I can agree about Sakamoto, but I'm sick of all the hate Aonuma gets. The Zelda series hasn't seen a catastrophe anywhere near the degree of Other M, and he knows what the fans want.

At least, this is supposedly what the fans want. I consider myself a Zelda fan, and I couldn't care less whether or not there is a predetermined order for the dungeons. Link's Awakening, yo. All I want is a pleasant aesthetic, memorable characters, and the brilliant action/adventure gameplay the series is known for. Nonlinearity is a non issue.
Aonuma's not even directing anymore, just producing. Fujibayashi is the new director.
