I think it doesn't really get much more 'core' than devoted PC-only gamers - in fact, in many cases it doesn't get much more hardcore even. So yeah, there's a single example that say yes, and I don't see any reason why the same couldn't hold true for other systems as well, although console gaming is a bit more casual... Hmm.
