And why is that, my good sir? |
Sorry for the wait. Had to drive my wife to class.
Anyway, I am confident in saying that if Ps4 opens with good sales then it will sustain good sales unlike the Wii U. There will be a winner this gen and the winner will be determined by the consumers. If the consumers choose the Ps4 at launch then the Ps4 will be the winner. Just like this gen the consumers chose the Wii then the PS3 which can be seen by aligned launches. The ps3 has always trend higher than the 360 in that department meaning it had more consumers interested in it when it finally became availble.
As for the Ps4 vs Wii U. When the Ps4 launches and if it beats out the Wii U then that means consumers chose the Ps4 over the Wii U (like Ps3 vs the 360). The Wii U is like the 360 here and people aren't really choosing it over something else. They are simple choosing to buy new hardware and since their only choice is the Wii U right now they buy the Wii U. Hence the fizzle. Because not many people are choosing to just buy new hardware (probably for multiple reasons)
Now, I'm not gonna say the amount of consumers (total sales) will be equal to this gen because frankly I believe it will be down in hardware sales. Also, I'm not saying Ps4 will be the winner. All I'm saying is if the consumers decide to favor the Ps4 over the Wii U when it finally launches (and same applies to xbox) then it will be the winner of the gen.
Edit: I think this is the post that would be easier to understand having the conversation in person. And in person the person would be able to see what point I'm getting even though they may not completely agree... and I think this post's point is going to be completely missed on the internet
