Hey, do whatever you want. Honestly, I think it's always a better idea to buy a last gen system than to buy a next gen one early on. It's inexpensive, has a massive library, cheap games, and 1yr PS+ is just the icing on the cake. I guess you'll know if it was a mistake by the end of the year, but I seriously doubt you'll regret it.
Wii U isn't gonna turn into another Dreamcast, though.
EDIT: Oh, you already owned a PS3 before? That changes things a bit...
