I've only ever had one console die on me. My PS2 got the dreaded Disc Read Error. My GameBoy Colour (Lime green) is still working as well as ever, as is my GBA SP. My PS3 works just fine as well; the original 60 GB launch model with full BC. My PSP also works well, though the batter can't hold a charge very well anymore.
