LOL The majority of Nintendos time in the gaming industry has been building commercial characters that attract children. I grew up watching Nintendo cartoons. I saw reruns of Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and Donkey Kong. Yeah....thats half the reason those titles sell so well. Its smart marketing for their core focus group.
Someone needs to tell Sony and Microsoft to do the same.

Right right right
but
it's PIKMIN.
They don't have appeal to children! The sales figures aren't good enough to justify this. Marketing won't change that.
And Sony did do this, with Sackboy everywhere. But Sackboy is also not popular enough to do that with.

Um no...Sony did not do with Crash or Sackboy what Nintendo did with mario. Nowhere near the marketing. Mario came bundled in almost every Nintendo system and then they made a show about it like three or four years later and Super Mario 3 was already in everyones blood by then. Crash sold with kids because the majority gaming kids grew up in the 90's when Crash had first come out and commercially it would've been a great title to get behind but Sony didnt own it. Sackboy has started out just like Mario being bundled (not nearly as heavily though) but Sony never went completely commercial with LBP, its kind of a best kept secret in the gaming realm.
Its kind of obvious that Nintendo wants Pikmin or any game they turn into a cartoon to become big with children. They dont have to market to kids? Where have you been? Thats their target market outside of families.

I wrote [Pikmin] don't have appeal to children. Not "don't have to appeal"
