^ I believe you're right, I don't see many people wasting money on an expensive player to watch expensive movies when DVD gives quality which is good enough for most people (even the ones who have an HDTV). The impending recession doesn't help it either, as luxury items are not something which does well during recessions.

Blu-Ray is probably going to continue being a niche product for geeks for a few more years. Later, it might either take off or get squashed by online distribution (or something in between).

PS: Toshiba's stock went up because investors are happy that they won't waste money trying to promote it any further.
