I really think Nintendo and the Wii are trapped in a paradox of their own making. Hardcore gamers scorn them after the way they percieved their brands to be tarnished on Wii by trying to make them more casual and the casual gamers cant really figure out if WiiU is an upgrade or a new gimmick. It needs time and GAMES to identify itself.

I think 3rd party support has been cruel but at the same time why should they risk jobs on a WiiU venture that is likely to bomb? WiiU was unveiled too early and developers are holding off to see what microsft and sony offer before placing their bets - and its this dilly dallying that is hurting the WiiU.

I want to love the WiiU - just as I grew to love the Wii in its later years when it gave me Skyward Sword - but Nintendo must make the first move and give me something before sony or microsoft beat them to my wallet.
