It will be better if Sony stop releasing Handheld Consoles. PSP was a fad and no one is coming back, at best Sony can hope for is GameCube sales with PS Vita. And since 3rd Party doesn't support them, it means it's not worth to waste billions on Hardware.

But what you are forgetting is that considering what the Wii U has shown us so far, it seems to be competitng with the PS3 and 360, not superseding them, therefore compaing the Wii U to sales from sales 7 years ago and not today is redundant.

Wii U compare to PS Vita.
Keep in mind that Handhelds always outsell Home Consoles.
There are more PSPs sold then the PS3, as well as more then the 360 and they got release around the same time.

Handhelds always sale better then home consoles. And the Wii U is wining, so it's a fair comparison. The PSP has sold more then PS3 & 360. And the DS has sold more then the Wii.

And consoles sell better than Ferrari Enzo's, so the Wii U > Enzo. But the ford mondeo > Wii U.
Comparing the Wii U to the vita is a comparison which has no logic in it. Please if you don't understand buisness don't start making things up.
