Does Chrom always ask Sumia to be his wife? I just killed that mad king and got to the proposal. I started working on their relationship a few battles ago (mainly trying to lvl up Sumia since she has been neglected) and paired them up but I believe their relationship was only a C or B at most. So that makes me think that it is destined to happen since it wasn't even a S level yet.

Chrom automatically marries after Chapter 11 to the woman in your army* he has the highest support with. If he has no support with any woman, he marries a generic villager instead. Sumia was simply the highest support level available at the time. (She's probably also the cannon mother, for what little that's worth)

*Excluding Lissa (for obvious reasons) and Cordelia.

What do you mean cannon mother?  and isn't Lissa a little young to be perusing?

Regarding Sumia, the game seems to push her as Chrom's wife: she's the only woman who has limited marriage prospect (four, like Chrom), in the event of a tie in Support Levels she has the highest priority, and she (and poor Cordelia) are the two whose descriptions/conversations with others indicate having a strong crush on Chrom.

As for Lissa...it's a medieval world, and norms were different then? I got nothin'. If it's any consolation, Donnel is supposed to be even younger. Let's not talk about Novi. Please.

Sad part is that I didn't make it with Donnel (I was trying to lvl him up to keep him but he fell in battle since he is so damn weak).  He seemed like too much work too so I let him fall in battle when first introduced to him so he never joined my party after the map.  I like to try to get everyone but sometimes those weaklings are more hassle than good.  I don't really have any sorrow for not getting Donnel considering I could have just replayed map till I got him.
