simply because they are good games. On the opposite, mediocre games sales will slump because from mouth to mouth they are known as not good, while good games are worth to pick any time you have the chance. It has nothing to do with casual or experienced gamers. The are some experienced gamers that has a vast library of games, and sometimes they just stop buying games in order to catch up with the new ones, then they start buying the good games they missed on that period.
People talk about mature games as if all of them are good. Look at the massive library of games on both the XBOX and PS3. Put them all together in one basket, separate the good ones from the mediocre ones, you will notice that new basket is around third of the original. In the same case, most of those games don't have those long legs because of that same reason. Besides, not all Nintendo games have those legs.
