This would only make sense if they were actually profiting money with the Wii U. As it is right now, Nintendo are selling it at a loss. So the more consoles sold, the more money Nintendo are losing from their pockets. Of course they hope to make the money back from SW and royalties. Plus this can change a few years down the road when the cost of manufacturing lowers. Until then though, they aren't making money. |
The 3DS is what keeps Nintendo afloat. Just like how the GameBoy kept Nintendo afloat during the GameCube era. They will continue to support the Wii U until it "takes off."
