I mean, this is where the HUGE intangible comes into play: community. Good communities should reward good posts with replies that give credit to the poster for their unique and thoughtful insights. And good posts in turn make good communities with high expectations.
Instead, we have the point system that rewards quantities of posts. The huge amount of posts in turn drives away people who can't tolerate the low quality posts and only retains the ones who care about points and the size of their e-peen.
