As a gamer I could care less about NFC. As a shareholder, I think it's spectacular. People will eat it up. Nintendo is the type of business that could milk this into something massive. Pokemon, or a new IP, could pull the kids in left and right. I love it because I think it could push major systems.
As a gamer I do love the idea of two gamepad play. There are amazing possibilities. A 1v1 strategy game... with neither using the TV? Picking plays off the touchpad in football? It's endless. An elaborate, multiplayer dual screen game could really show off the WiiU and make other systems seem boring and old fashioned by comparission. Nintendo should push this with a major title.
I'm very happy to hear Nintendo is pushing forward with both of these techs, and that we will likely see something from it this year. Very exciting.
