That's an interesting spin on things. "Our current gen offerings are flopping compared to others, so we will lump all of our hardware combined, handhelds, home consoles, this gen, last gen, lump 'em all in! Now our numbers look good :)" Said by Sony executives.

It is spin because the comparison is based on samples that are no where near similar. Their statement is true, but it is spot on for the definition of "spin" to make something appear much more positive than it actually is.

Should Microsoft include all Kinects sold as "console hardware" or stretch the definition even farther to include other controllers and peripherals as "console hardware" to spin it even farther???

Should Pepsico not claim to be the biggest beverage company just because coca-cola is the top soda beverage?

It's quite a similar story, those two. Pepsi just could not win against Coke in the cola market, so what did it do? It became number one in virtually every single other beverage market. Is it spin to say that Pepsico>Coca-cola? No.

The reality YOU and the ms guys here seem to be pushing is that 360 is the best selling console in the UK. Sure. Have that. PS and Nintendo are bigger brands. How is one statement spin and the other, not? This coming from a company that says things like "Double every other console combined (but really only referring to ps3 and wiiu)"
