The game had very little buzz surrounding it for being such a high profile release. I have a buddy who literally hates EA because he loved DS1, due to it reinvigorating old-school survival-horror, but he hated DS2 and it left such a bad taste in his mouth that he said he wouldn't even bother trying DS3. I think fans of the original have long since given up on the series ever being good again. And it's certainly not a game that appealed to wide audience to begin with. Survival-horror is a very niche, specific genre, and you if you piss off your fans by making it non-survival horror, then you simply don't have any fans left. Does EA have any good franchises left, other than Mass Effect and Dragon Age? |
Dragon Age has long since gone the shitter. Mass Effect is headed for pure cover shooter style and less and less RPG. No, they don't really have any good franchises left and have choked the creative talent of Bioware, just like they did with Westwood and Bullfrog, both of which had stellar games in their portfolio. This is just their way of doing business.
