See, EA was one of the "third parties" that Nintendo was developing the WiiU to revolve around. When they first started working on the WiiU, Iwata went to a number of third-party publishers and asked them what they wanted to see in a console from Nintendo. EA was one of those companies, and they built the WiiU with their requests in mind.
Later on, EA got greedier and tried nabbing Nintendo's online service while they were at it, and Nintendo said that was a no-go. So EA got all pissy and boycotted the system. It's quite silly, really.
