I'm tired of explaining this already, so I'll try to be clear using your same arguments. Metal Gear Solid continues on what Metal Gear started and expands it? Well, Metal Gear Rising CONTINUES on what Metal Gear Solid did and expands it too. Metal Gear Rising will be its own series, the same way Metal Gear Solid went and become a series of its own. The same way Metal Gear became two games. When they eventually do a release of MGS5 (MGS5 I suposse, not MGS6 =P), they'll expand more the Metal Gear Solid saga, but mind you, it is a prequel featuring Big Boss. So no, the weight to the story of Metal Gear Solid will be little, as it will explain events that we already know. Yet Rising is build upon the closure of Metal Gear Solid 4 and carries on the Metal Gear saga story. |
Its like Star Trek (2009), is canon because Nimoy/Original Spock is there but it branched out into its own thing. Yes it continues with some of what classic Trek started like the Kobayashi Maru test but it also breaks free from previous canon and let the developers make it its own thing they even change the genre too (classic Trek = Sci Fi, new Trek = Action movie with Sci-fi elements, MGS = Stealth, MGR = Hack and Slash).
