Star Wars and Resident Evil games have always done well with Nintendo. With the Wii, the simple problem wasnt that 3rd party games didnt sell well. It was that 3rd parties barely put any effort into the console for those games to sell well... They werent given the chance. RE4 Wii Edition sold over 2 Million units, proving that the audience was there for a survival horror game. Instead of a RE5 port though, Wii got on-rails FPS. Those games even sold well, but no RE5. Oh, dont forget DS: Extraction, too. Super Smash Bros. Brawl has sold over 10 Million units, proving that there is an audience for fighters - No Street Fighter, no Tekken, no DoA, no MK, no Soul Calibur, etc. 3rd parties instead used the Wii as a profit machine to fund the big HD games. With no cheap, casual console this generation I think we will see a lot of developers go the way of THQ. |
So many good points.
