The Xbox 360 is a solid piece of hardware and I am very happy with mine.

Speaking of longevity, I still have a first run 20GB pro console and the thing has never had any technical issues.

Yeah people definitely got their moneys worth out of the 360, and they're not even done with it yet. The 360 is already nearing its 8th birthday so it will easily achieve the 10 year life cycle and could even beat the PS2's 12 years. The 360 is still selling well, and if I were Microsoft I wouldn't be any hurry to release a next gen console. They might still have a few tricks up their sleeves for the 360. They designed the Xbox 360 to be future proof, so expect consoles of this gen and future gens to have a much longer shelf life. People need to come to grips with the fact that this is the end of an era of 4-5 year console life cycles. Consoles were lucky if they achieved a 6 year life cycle in the 90s.
