Sorry, I should clarify. I think Smartphones and Tablets are here to stay, I mean as a primary gaming platform they are a "fad". I think games will always be on them, I think they will be used, but as Japan shows they seem to be, in my opinion, a gateway to dedicated gaming moreso than a block.

I honestly have no idea how reputable this analysis is (IDC's a big name, only heard of App Annie a couple months ago), but there is evidence that smartphones and tablets are already more important to gaming than the 3DS and Vita are:

i would like to see them paying 40-50 dollars for a mobile game

Who says people even like the 40-50 dollar/game model?

That model was shoved down consumers' throats by console manufacturers because there was no real alternative before.

It's like if there was a hamburger joint and they said "well burgers cost $10 each, and we don't do french fries". If that was the only hamburger joint in your town, you'd have no choice but to go there.

Now there's actually a choice. Not every consumer wants or needs to pay 40-60 dollars for a game. For a lot of people 5 or 6 $1-2 games keep them occupied for the 20-40 minutes of free time they may have during their busy day.
