Hmm...this seems like an excuse you just made up on the spot to cover up the fact that you really just wanted to spite me. But if you're serious, then points aren't necessary at all to keep track of things. Check here. Everything is recorded and has it's own value independent of the existence of points. Points aren't necessary to record things; rather, points are just an additional (and rather arbitrary) means to record things.
