Hopefully this changes between now and when the console releases. Digital profiles should be tied to the user and playable on any device that uses those profiles. If I bought a new PC and Valve said "sorry, you can't play your old Steam games on your new PC. Re-buy them!" I would be hella pissed. |
transfer can not be done yet because, of hardware incompatiblity, and not because you suddenly have to buy them again. So, right now it is not possible, but once they become emulated, or streamed via gaikai, if you already have them bought through the PSN store, then you will be able to play them in your PS4, because you already bought them, and they are attached to your account.
Something similar with PSP games and PSone classics on the VITA. Once they became emulated, you could re-download it on the PSVITA without any additional cost, because they are already attached to yout console.
Obviously at first there wont be much to select from, but as time passes most of the digital library of PS3 games will be available at the PS4 PSNStore.
