every compsny that tried to restrict second hand games saw games sales drop. So, i don't see how that benefits microsoft. You can't take two totally different things from almost 30 years apart and give a reason why one would work over the other...  As far as 85% goes...  Sure...  That 85% is a moving target because the gaming industry is getting bigger and bigger.  Far bigger than it was back in the 80's, or we wouldn't have had a crash.

Atari failed because there was tons of crap being pushed out. No one wanted those games anyway. If you made a good game for nintendo back then, you had nothing to worry about... And, I'm using "good game" very loosely.

Putting restrictions on who can buy what versus who can release what are two different things. You can release it, but, it doesn't mean people will buy it. You can not release something and people wont buy it. Put restrictions on what you can do with the game, and fewer people will buy it.

Not a benefit to microsoft, because games that have DRM or 2nd handed lock-outs fail. This is like trying to argue that going all digital next gen would be a good idea. It wouldn't.
