If MS decide to implement as many restrictions and fees as it sounds like, it could be the opposite. Its not like developers are making money off of Live subscriptions and restrictions will drive some customers away from the platform.
I refuse to believe these rumors though, adopting such a closed market and development ground seems like a majorly stupid move, too stupid for a company as old and experienced as Microsoft.
