I've personally never been fond of Nintendo's decision to name this generation's console the Wii U, but I don't think it would be a good idea to change the name either. Regardless, once E3 comes around and developers start announcing their next-gen projects, as well as the other previously announced Wii U titles start releasing, I'm hopeful that the Wii U sales will start to pick up.
