I agree with Freequaker. There are legitimate and sound arguments in regards to the way MS handles their OS platform. It is something oft discussed among computer techs and network admins. They do a lot for the industry and their products bring a lot of innovation, but some of the decisions they make and general practices are made with great criticism in the field. In that regard though, Freequaker's thoughts have come off much harsher than probably they should be intended.
As for mentioning the MS fan base here, he obviously know the count, but most don't. What he does know, from what he has experienced here is that there are a decent number of aggressive hoodlums who are overly defensive and utterly incapable of addressing criticism without it regressing to petty squabble, name calling, denial, intentional derailment, or evangelized avoidance.
Do any of you actually care or know much about MS to be able to formulate an argument? Or does it boil down to very miniscule products or public adoption that outweighs any concern or desire for the overall business approach? Let alone understand it.
