With "We’ve seen competitors come and go" he is talking about Sega leaving and MS joining, right? because nothing else happened in the past 15 years. Well Valve and Ouya just happened, but I doubt he is talking about those guys.

Apple Bandai with the Pippin

 

Most of these were discontinued in 1996 and 1997. Sony introduced the PS1 in 1994. This might be what they are talking about.

Jaguar, 3DO & Pippin all got discontinued AFTER the release of the PS1.

There is no rule that his statement must only include competitors that released and got discontinued after PS1 release in Dec. 1994. Those competitors still left the market, which gives legitimacy to his statement.

Plus, like I later said, the N-Gage came out in 2003, with the PSP releasing a few months later. Does that one suddenly not count either?
