@ PS collector. - I think you are being a little over sensitive. I was asked why I hate Sony. I pointed out that I do not hate Sony, and politely identified a thing that Sony does that makes me dislike them slightly.

If you can't accept that things such as the Cell processor, Blu ray drive (for PS3), or 8 gb of GDDR5 ram are making games too expensive and graphics oriented for me, then I suggest you leave the thread.

Even I think the cell processor was a bit of a screw up so I think where on the same page there, but as for the 8gig of GDDR5 ram making games more expensive??? I dont think it will change the pricing point + there not just using all that ram for graphics only, there going 2 have alot of other tasks running in the background multi tasking etc, mabye watch the 2013 meeting?

No such thing as a free lunch. If you give the PS4 8 gig of ram instead of 4, developers have to make their games look better to compete with other PS4 games. This costs money for the developers to do. The developers then have a choice, they can

* Sell the game for more money (which may include selling things as dlc that should be the main game)

* Compromise in some other area, such as length of game, gameplay, debugging etc

* Make less money

Now, I hope you can immediately see why some people would not be happy with options 1 or 2? You might think extra graphics are worth what you have to give up, but for me personally, they are not.

As for option 3, a lot of studios took that option in the PS3 gen. A lot of them went bankrupt. Again, I hope you can see why I consider that not worth it?

Also, it will only be 7 years between console launches for Sony, 6 for Nintendo and most likely 8-9 for MS. Nintendo can hardly be accused of being the company that is pushing graphical advancement too fast.

1) As for me saying a free launch? I dont know where you got that one from.

2) No one is forcing dev's 2 blow there whole budget on a game and push the console 2 its maxium and make use of the current hardware of that gen, an example on the PS3 is journey they are a indie dev that didnt have 2 spend mega AAA style Development money 2 create a hit. If im not mistaken Journey has won several game of the year awards.

3) As for game dev's going broke this year and previous years is  because of the rise of Mobile gaming and tablet gaming Not 2 mention this is a dying gen that has gone on for way 2 long and year on year sales show this as people are loosing interest as nothing new is evolving 2 spike there interest.

4) I didnt say its all about the graphics, I pointed out the extra ram that is 2 be included in systems is because the newer gen is pushing towards a more multi-media type system that can do more then just play games, eg uploading videos, better operating systems with alot more mutli-tasking and help the system run smoother and also there are lots of cases where devs have asked for more ram eg

http://gamersyndrome.com/2012/news/crytek-wants-more-ram-for-next-gen-consoles/

5) The new design of the PS4 and 720 is alot more PC like in there design making the new gen much more DEV friendly which in turn will help ease RND/programing costs unlike the PS3 with its tricky 2 program cell chip and alot of dev's are happy and have already given the PS4 props for this eg.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-02-22-ps4-pc-like-architecture-8gb-ram-delight-developers

6) As for Nintendo not pushing graphics what did the N64 try and do? What did the Gamecube do? both great consoles that aimed for power but there downfalls where not because of rising development and game costs and the Gamecube had a good price tag on it for its time going for 100 less then the PS2 and the Xbox with good priced software.

Im not denying that Devs costs are up compared 2 previous gens, eg cost for a NES game compared 2 a PS/Xbox game. but thats development for you, and the next gen systems will launch at a better price then the previous (for Sonys sake I hope) and theres already talk of games selling for much cheaper, this time 10 years ago a game cost me  $80 new for my PS2 and it still costs me $80 for a new game on my PS3 2day.

Dont get me wrong im not worked up by any of your comments :) its good 2 have a debate with fellow gamers and discuss the various reasons and I do understand where your coming from and im not saying your wrong but I just dont think its anything 2 worry about yet :)
