Nintendo knows what has to be done...

I have every confidence that a relaunch at the end of march, a sustained marketing run, new bundling and the rushing of big software for the holiday will spur on sales.

10 million seems very possible for the end of 2013.

I'll bet you that it doesn't sell 10 million this year. I don't think they will drop the price in march first of all. Even then I still seeing it sell less than 10mil

I didn't say they would drop the price :(

Without a big software push, that's pointless. If the listed things don't work for the holidays, then Nintendo might throw in a price drop at the end of October. I'm sure they will try everything else first.

This is more or less do or die for the Wii U. This holiday it must pick up speed - the more the better.

I see. I took the relaunch meaning a price drop. I agree its do or die for nintendo. The longer they wait to make a move the harder it will be for them.

After the sales drop-off in januari, Nintendo had two options:

  1. Space out software and marketing money, in the hope one of more games ignites a steady sales increase.
  2. Pull back all software, and set up a strongly guided relaunch and software push to the holiday (perhaps ending with a price drop if needed).

Nintendo choose number 2; clearly proven by the lack of software and marketing for the last two months.

Their relaunch will probably begin with Monster hunter. If they planned well, things should start to build up to the holidays.
